Tom Murray was the brother of my grandmother, Sarah Murray, who married Timothy Fitzpatrick, had seven children and lived on Leyden Street in East Boston, Mass. The children were John, Mary, Sarah (Sadie), Thomas, Theresa, Kate and Henry, my father, who was the only child to get married. John died at age 3 in 1878 of scarlet fever. My father married Alice Claire Reilly, of East Boston, the daughter of Agnes Rothwell Reilly and Joseph A. Reilly, from England and Ireland respectively. They had two boys, Henry J. Jr. (Harry) and me, William. Harry died in Laguna Niguel, California, in 2003 survived by five kids, Kathleen, Denise, Amy, David and Henry J. III, and eight grandchildren. My wife, Joan H. (Crowley) and I have four children, 3 boys and 1 girl, and seven grandchildren. I have the cane given to Tom in the UK hanging over my living room fireplace!

I have a considerable amount of information on Tom E Murray 1874-1935. This publicity shot was taken c.1896 upon his arrival in the UK from the USA. He was an instant hit in pantomime, headlining with the likes of George Robey. The BFI have a silent short of him in a skit https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-lizars-edinburgh-1904-1904-online (they have yet to add the details I have given them). He and wife Helena returned to the USA at the outbreak of WWI, and after a brief stay in NYC, settled in Cambridge, Mass. and that's sadly where the trail runs cold.
