A professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Springman started her career in the industry, working as an engineer on several geotechnical projects in England, Fiji, and Australia. While completing her Master's and Ph.D. degrees at Cambridge, she also pursued an athletic career winning numerous national and international triathlon competitions.
