Freddie Mercury was a musician, best known as the lead singer of the rock band Queen. Born in Zanzibar, he was the eldest son of Bomi Bulsara, civil servant, and his wife, Jer. His parents were from Bombay and were Zoroastrians. Mercury's family moved to London when he was in his teens; he studied at the Ealing College of Art (1966-69) before forming the band Queen in 1970. Mercury composed many international hits, including 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Killer Queen', 'Somebody to Love', 'Don't Stop Me Now', 'We Are the Champions' and 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'. He was particularly admired for his vocal abilities and for his live performances. In addition to his work with Queen, he produced a number of hits as a solo artist.
