Cassandra as a child had been invited to play with children of Queen Victoria, along with her sisters Ralouka,, Esmeralda, and Helane. The Queen admired her considerable musicianship of Cassandra and even more of that of her older sister Ralouka ( who also has her picture in the National Portrait Gallery) T

As a child Cassandra along with her siblings was frequently invited to play with Queen Victoria's children . Later she would play the piano for the Queen. The queen considered her older sister Ralouka was the better player. Ralouka was considered the greatest amateur exponent of Chopin in that period.

Cassandra Catalani (nee Musurus) is my 2nd Great Grandmother. Theodora Kelley (nee Catalani) is my paternal grand-mother. I would really like to connect with Antonia Catalani - author of the post above. How can we make that happen?

Born 1850, her father was ambassador to the Sublime Porte (the Ottoman Empire to London). The Musurus family was an ancient one. Archbishop Marcus Musurus has a biography in the Encyclopaedia Britannica, 11th edition) Her son Giusseppe was just graduating from Harrow when she was widowed she then existed on a miserable pension. Her son entered the diplomatic service. She had 4 grandchildren, Dora ,Victoria, my half sisters, later Nigel Adrian and Antonia Eva (me) only one of the 4 still alive. A lot more is known. Two photos available, one when she was young (poor) and a better one when she was older. I do have a lot more information.
