John Hawker (1773-1864) was a Church of England priest from Devon, who became an independent minister in the Plymouth area after leaving the Church over the issue of Catholic emancipation. He was the son of Robert Hawker of Stoke (Damerel) (1753–1827), cleric; making him an uncle of Robert Stephen Hawker of Morwenstow. Eldad Chapel adjacent to the naval hospital at Plymouth was built for him 1828-30. After his death it became St Peter's Church.
