Charles James Phipps Eyre (1813-1899) was the son of the Rev. James Eyre of Beverley, and was a student at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. Ordained priest in 1837, he was perpetual curate of St Mary's, Bury St Edmunds from 1842 to 1857, and rector of St Marylebone, London from 1857 to 1882. He married Mary Hulse Eyre and was father of John Rashdall Eyre, archdeacon of Sheffield.
