Linda Bellos
(1950-), Campaigner; leader of Lambeth CouncilSitter in 1 portrait
Campaigner and political activist. Since the early 1980s, Bellos has worked in the public and private sector as a policy and equality advisor. She joined the Spare Rib feminist collective in 1981, and in 1986 was elected Leader of Lambeth Council. As chair of the London Strategic Policy Unit, Bellos introduced Black History Month, an annual event that is celebrated across Britain. Bellos is currently a director of Diversity Solutions Consultancy Ltd, a specialist equality and diversity company which she formed in February 2002. In 2006, Bellos was awarded an OBE for services to diversity.
