Londonderry Guardian of 31 August 1871 carries 'a tribute to the character and talents of the late William Foy, Esquire, as an artist.' He is described as 'the only distinguished artist whom Derry ever sent forth'. It hung in Culdaff House, Donegal until the house was burnt during the Troubles in 1922.
