Armen Ohanian (née Sophia Pirboudaghian)

(1887-1976), Armenian dancer

Armenian-born Ohanian lived in Persia and Turkey before beginning her career as a dancer in Paris and London. Famous for her Orientalist dances, Ohanian also worked as a writer. Her autobiographical work, The Dancer of Shamahka was published in French in 1918 and translated into English in 1922.
