George Pryme was of Huguenot stock, originally De la Pryme. The full name was restored in the later 19thc. He was MP for Cambridge along with Thomas Spring Rice in 1832, wining 979 votes to Rice's 799. He was also the first Professor of Political Economy at Cambridge, Trinity College, and the Chair in that subject was invented for him. His wife was a Thackeray and a relative of William Makepeace Thackeray.
