British professional boxer who has held world titles in two weight classes. Haye grew up in Bermondsey and started training, aged 10, at the Fitzroy Lodge Boxing Club in Lambeth, South London. He is the first British boxer to reach the final of the World Amateur Boxing Championships, winning a silver medal in 2001. He became the first professional British boxer to become a unified cruiserweight world champion in 2008, winning three out of the four major world titles. After moving to heavyweight, he became the WBA champion in 2009. Haye has earned himself the nickname of "The Hayemaker" due to his ability to deliver powerful punches and knock his opponents off balance unnexpectedly.
