A singer-songwriter and folk musician. Born in Hampshire, Marling moved to London aged sixteen, where she became involved with a number of 'nu-folk' bands, including Noah and the Whale and the Mystery Jets. Her albums, Alas, I Cannot Swim (2008), I Speak Because I Can (2010) and Once I was an Eagle (2013) received Mercury Music Prize nominations. She was named Best Female Solo Artist at the 2011 Brit Awards and won the NME Award for Best Solo Artist the following week.
