Zoe Smith

Greenwich-born Zoe Smith started out as a gymnast before finding her true potential when a weightlifting studio opened at her local gym. She now holds over 300 weightlifting records. In 2008 Smith was invited to Beijing as part of Britain's Olympic Ambition Programme and was nominated the British Olympic Association's Athlete of the Year (Weightlifting). She was the first ever British woman to win a weightlifting medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and went on to win silver at the World Youth Games in 2011. Smith competed in the 58kg Women's division at the London 2012 Olympic Games where she set a new British clean and jerk record.
