Katherine Grainger is Britain's most successful oarswoman. She took up rowing at Edinburgh University in 1993 and competed internationally for the first time in 1997. She has won three Olympic silver medals (2000, 2004, 2008) and is six times a world champion. Grainger has rowed with Anna Watkins since 2010; the pair have dominated the double scull and are unbeaten. They maintained their title as world champions in 2011 and won gold at all three World Cups in 2012 followed by gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
