Second son of Very Revd Alfred Robertson Fitchett, (1st) Dean of St Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin 1894-1929, Vicar of All Saints church, Dunedin 1879-1928
Educated Otago Boys' High School; Selwyn College, Dunedin; St John';s College, Auckland; Selwyn College, Cambridge (MA). Ordained deacon 1900, and priest 1901, Manchester Cathedral. Asst curate St Peter's, Bury; Priest in Charge, St Thomas, Wellington 1902; Vicar Dunstan 1902; Vicar St John's Roslyn 1911-1939; Archdeacon of Dunedin1915; Bishop of Dunedin 1934-1952.
Portrait almost certainly done at time he was elected Bishop.
