Colin Davidson

Artist of 2 portraits
A leading portrait artist based in Belfast, Davidson received an Art and Design degree from the University of Ulster (1987-91) and an Honorary Degree in Art from Queen's University (2016). He has participated in the BP Portrait Award three times, winning the Visitor's Choice Award in 2012. His portrait series, Silent Testimony, exhibited in 2015 at the Ulster Museum, depicted eighteen individuals linked by personal experiences of loss during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Another recent series, Jerusalem 2014-17, depicts twelve cross-denominational sitters on an equal scale. Seamus Heaney, Ed Sheeran, Brad Pitt, Paul Muldoon and Dame Mary Peters are among his diverse range of portrait subjects.
