Winifred May de Kok

(1893-1969), Doctor and broadcaster; wife of Alfred Edgar Coppard

South African born May de Kok worked as a Doctor in a medical practice in England, before becoming a broadcaster and writer on family health. Her popular books included First Baby and You and Your child. An advocate of issues relating to women's health, her publications anticipated the family planning movement. During the 1950s, she presented Tell Me Doctor, a television show broadcast by the BBC which discussed topics concerning family life and health. She married the short story writer Alfred Edgar Coppard.
