Randolph ('Randy') Lerner

(1962-), Entrepreneur and sports team owner

American investment manager and owner of Aston Villa Football Club since 2006. He studied at Columbia College in New York and Cambridge University. Following a brief period as a lawyer Lerner worked in investment management in New York, while also working with UK-based credit card company MBNA. From 2002 to 2012, Lerner owned the American Football team Cleveland Browns, and is now in his ninth season as Chairman of Aston Villa. He has had a longstanding relationship with The National Portrait Gallery and became a major benefactor through the Lerner Foundation Gift in 2008, when the ground floor Galleries were renamed in honour of the Lerner family.
