Sir Richard Mantelow was my grandfather. He worked for the Ministry of Agriculture, during the 2nd world war. He WA sparkly responsible for Dig for Victory. He established the Sanderstead Horticultural Society in 1941, which is still going strong and there is the Manktelow cup, named after him.
