Dame Helen Alexander
(1957-2017), Chairman of UBM plc and President of CBISitter in 1 portrait
In 2009, after stepping down as Chief Executive of the media company, the Economist Group, Alexander was appointed as the first woman President of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). Her three-year tenure oversaw a period of financial crisis and debates over executive pay. She has served as chair for a number of companies, and is Chancellor of Southampton University. In 2011 Alexander was appointed a Dame in recognition of her work as President of the CBI.
