Wanda Radford died in Sydney (Lewisham Hospital), 16 September 1982 and prior to that lived in Elizabeth Bay. She was a neighbour of friends of my family. There was talk of a trunk of memorabilia at the Elizabeth Bay flat, including items from her advocate Nellie Melba (including a signed fan and part of a one of Melba's dresses) and a doll presented to Wanda by the Kaiser - in her own image.

Child actress Wanda Radford was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1896. After early stage appearances in Australia, she she won considerable fame as a child artiste in Berlin and London from 1906 to 1911. She suffered a nervous breakdown in 1912, but reappeared in 1915 as a leading player in three films for the London Film Company, under the name of Blanche Bryan. She later turned to costume design and magazine illustration. She settled in Sydney in the early 1920s. Her last known stage appearance was in a production of The Importance of Being Earnest in Sydney in 1925. Radford's later movements and death are unrecorded. Some of the costumes she wore as a child actress have survived.
