Ada Caroline Hitchcock (1855-1934) was born April 1855 in Hornsey, Middlesex. Her parents were Charles Hitchcock (1811-1863) and Caroline Ann Hanley (1815-1869). She married Inspector of Schools, Charles Erskine Vertue (1843-1904) in 1887 Hastings, Sussex. She died 28 November 1934 in Grayshott, Hampshire aged 79.
