Started as part of an impromptu comedy duo partnership with Vic Reeves at a comedy club and went on to perform to a regular audience at the Albany Empire, Deptford. He met his comedy partner Vic Reeves while performing his stage show Vic Reeves Big Night Out in 1986. A television series of the same name was first broadcast in 1990, and soon attracted cult status. The duo continued their creative friendship working together on The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, and Bang Bang, It's Reeves and Mortimer. The comedy panel show Shooting Stars which began in 1995 was revived in 2008. Mortimer is currently writing his first novel.
