Wiggins began his cycling career on the track and won his first Olympic medal at the games in Sydney in 2000 where he took home bronze in the team pursuit. Four years later he won silver in the same event, gold in the individual pursuit and bronze in the madison. He won two further gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the individual and team pursuits. After switching his main focus to road cycling he won gold in the time trial at the 2012 London Olympics. That summer he also won the Tour de France.
