Cate Blanchett

A long-time resident of the United Kingdom and a former member of the famous enclave of Australian celebrities living in Brighton, Cate Blanchett is an Australian actress and theatre director. She has made important contributions to British cinema and British cultural identity, especially through her leading role in Shekhar Kapur's Elizabeth (1998). Her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator (2004) brought her critical praise, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2013, Blanchett starred in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress. She made her Broadway debut in 2017 in The Present, an adaptation of Chekhov's play Platonov.
