Harry Djanogly

(1938-), Textile manufacturer

Djanogly is a British textile manufacturer and philanthropist, whose family emigrated from France in 1936. In 1986 he merged his Nottingham Manufacturing Company with other textile interests to form Coats Viyella, the world's leading thread manufacturer. Since the 1970s, the Djanoglys have supported institutions such as Tate, the British Museum, National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. They have also supported education and health, with the Djanogly Learning Trust, the Sir Harry and Lady Djanogly Learning Resource Centre and Nottingham Lakeside Arts programme. Djanogly was awarded a CBE in 1983 and knighted in 1993. In 2014, he and Lady Djanogly received the Prince of Wales Medal for Arts Philanthropy.
