William Currey was trained as an engineer, but went into photography in the early 1860s. He ran his Lancashire studio with his daughters assisting, and died in 1898.

“Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail”, 8 February 1898: “Mr. Wm. Currey, photographer, Morecambe, died on Saturday at the age of 65 years. He was a native of Bolton, and was said be the only person who has photographed Mr. Gladstone in the act of felling trees.”
