Jacob William Rees-Mogg

Conservative backbencher Jacob Rees-Mogg is a controversial figure in British politics, known for his reactionary and socially conservative positions on welfare, abortion and gay marriage that situate him on the far right of his party. Educated at Eton and Oxford, he co-founded Somerset Capital Management in 2007 and was elected MP for North East Somerset in 2010. A Eurosceptic who has advocated for a hard Brexit, he campaigned to leave the European Union in the 2016 referendum and has subsequently joined pro-Brexit pressure groups Leave Means Leave and the European Research Group, of which he is chairman.
