Cressida Dick joined the police force as a constable in 1983, rising through the ranks as the Head of the Diversity Directorate (2001-3), Head of Operation Trident in 2003 and Assistant Commissioner for Specialist Operations (2011-15). In 2017, Dick became the first female Commissioner of London's Metropolitan Police Service in its 188-year-long history.
