Der Name SARSTEDT erstaunt mich bei einer britischen Familie. Es gibt in Deutschland einen Ort bei Hannover, der diesen Namen trägt. Stedt ist eine andere Schreibweise von Stadt (Town).

Meine Idee, der Ursprung dieser Familie käme aus Deutschland, erscheint mir selbst etwas gewagt. Es gab in D'land viele Familien jüdischen Ursprungs, deren Namen "Ortsbezeichnungen" waren - "Offenbach", nur mal als Beispiel.

Eden Kane war in meiner Jugend einer meiner Favoriten und ich finde es bedauerlich, wenig über seine Herkunft zu wissen.
Von seinem Aussehen her nehm ich an, daß seine Mutter eine Inderin war, in deren Heimat Edens Vater sein Brot verdiente.
Aber das sind nur Ideen meiner Fantasie.

[The name SARSTEDT amazes me in a British family. There is a place near Hanover in Germany that bears this name. Stedt is another spelling of Stadt (Town).

My idea that the origin of this family came from Germany seems a bit daring to me. There were many families of Jewish origin in Germany whose names were "place names" - "Offenbach", just as an example.

Eden Kane was one of my favourites when I was young and I find it unfortunate that I know little about his origins.
From his appearance I assume that his mother was an Indian, in whose homeland Eden's father earned his living. But these are just ideas from my imagination.]
