Furmanovsky emigrated from Zimbabwe with parents to England in 1965 and studied graphic design at Central (St. Martin's) School of Art from 1972-1974. From 1972 she became in-house photographer at the Rainbow Theatre specialising in live rock concerts. Rock artists photographed include Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Mick Jagger, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd, Pretenders, The Police and Eric Clapton. She has been commissioned by many others, including K.D. Lang and Oasis. In 1995 her book The Moment - 25 Years of Rock Photography was published and in 1997 an exhibition of photographs taken of Oasis -'Was There Then' toured the country.
