Brian Moore
(1921-1999), NovelistSitter in 4 portraits
Novelist. Born in Belfast, Moore's early careers in the Ministry of War Transport and United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration took him all over the world. For a time he settled in Canada, where he wrote the novel Judith Hearne (1955), in a cabin in the Laurentides mountains of Quebec. Under the pseudonyms Bernard Mara and Michael Bryan, Moore wrote several thrillers, including French for Murder (1954). His literary output includes nineteen novels and eight screenplays.
