Sylvia Syms
(1934-2023), Actress, director and producerSitter in 10 portraits
Syms studied at RADA and appeared in her first film aged nineteen. My Teenage Daughter (1954), in which she starred alongside Anna Neagle, was followed by nine more films in the 1950s, including Ice-Cold in Alex (1958) and the English civil war story Moonraker (1958). Syms's long career encompassed notable radio and screen performances, including her role as the Queen Mother in the Oscar-winning film The Queen (2006) as well as directing her own company.
