Adam Cooper

(1971-), Ballet dancer

Sitter in 1 portrait
Cooper joined the Royal Ballet in 1989 and became a principal dancer in 1994. The following year he was invited by Matthew Bourne to dance the Swan/Stranger in Adventures in Motion Pictures' revolutionary Swan Lake in which the two principal dancers and the corps de ballet were male. The production took the dance world by storm; Cooper sustained the role for four and a half years, touring throughout the world, and is seen as a pivotal figure in broadening the appeal of ballet in the present day.
