Edward Askew Sothern
(1826-1881), ActorSitter in 18 portraits
Sothern was best known for his eccentric, comic acting roles, particularly as Lord Dundreary. He first performed the immensely popular role in 1858 at Laura Keene's Theatre, New York, and in London at the Haymarket Theatre from 1861.
