Actress and singer; daughter of Sir Leslie Ward (Spy), caricaturist for Vanity Fair. Began her career in theatre at the age of 18 in Yes Uncle! and subsequently appeared in numerous productions in London and New York, including Lilac Time (1925) and After Dark (1933). In 1920 she married fellow actor Evan Thomas.
