Born 13 December 1819 Westminster, London to Richard Cox (who changed the family name to Dicksee) & his wife Margaret (nee Badger). Thomas was the younger brother of fellow artist John Robert Dicksee (1817-1905) and father of Sir Frank Dicksee, President of the RA (1853-1928) & Margaret Isabel Dicksee, artist (1858-1903). He studied under Henry Perronet Briggs (1791-1844), a famous London historical & portrait painter whose regular sitters included the Duke of Wellington. Thomas exhibited at the RA between 1841 & 1895. On 25 December 1850 at St James' Church Westminster London, Thomas married Eliza Bernard. He died on 6 November 1895 at St Pancras in London. A self portrait is in the possession of the family.
