William Wolfe Alais (1801-1861) was the son of John Alais, also an engrave in London and Buenos Aires. (1775-1847. Among WWA's children were William John Alais , historical engraver (18309-1910) and Alfred Clarence Alais, portrait and historical engraver, (1838-1895). One of William John Alais's children was Ernest William Wolfe Alais (1864-1922), engraver, artist, writer of short stories for boys and writer of Sexton Blake mysteries.
