From 1953 Philip Dowson worked with the distinguished engineer Sir Ove Arup, and, committed to the benefits of interdisciplinary design, he has contributed to a wide range of Arup Associates projects including various buildings for Oxford and Cambridge. He is the President of the Royal Academy of Arts and a Trustee of the National Portrait Gallery.
