Born in 1949, John Goto studied as a painter as well as a photographer. He held his first solo exhibition at the Photographer's Gallery, London in 1981 but has subsequently worked and exhibited internationally. His work has explored a number of Russian and Eastern European themes in addition to architectural subjects. He has lectured extensively at academic institutions in Britain, Finland, Russia and Israel. Goto currently lives and works in Oxford.
