Shulman was appointed Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue in 1992. Daughter of theatre critic Milton Shulman and writer Drusilla Beyfus and educated at St Paul's Girls School and Sussex University. Shulman joined Condé Nast as commissioning editor of Tatler (1982-4) graduating to features editor (1984-7). In 1987 she joined The Sunday Telegraph, moving to Vogue as features editor (1988-90). Editor of GQ (1990-2). She was elected to Condé Nast's UK board in 1997 and was named PPA Editor of the Year in the same year. She became a Trustee of the NPG in November 1999. Awarded an OBE for her services to the magazine industry in January 2005.
