Wilfrid Wilson Gibson
(1878-1962), PoetSitter in 17 portraits
Poet. A prolific writer, whose poems and verse-plays reflect the lives of ordinary people, Gibson made several abortive attempts to enlist before succeeding in 1917 and serving until 1919 in the Army Service Corps. Breakfast and 'The Lament are among his war poems. A friend of Rupert Brooke (and a beneficiary of Brooke's will).
