Painter. Cecil Collins was a mystic in the tradition of William Blake and Samuel Palmer. His vision of a lost Paradise was peopled with his own characteristic archetypes, the Poet, the Fool and the Angel. The two former, highly stylised though they are, have been taken to be in some sense self-portraits, while the Angel was always inspired by his wife, the painter Elisabeth Collins.
