Sir Patrick Alfred Caldwell Moore

English astronomer, author and broadcaster. Best known as the presenter of the longest-running programme with the same presenter in British television history The Sky at Night from 1957. His passion for astronomy began at the age of 6, received his first telescope at 11 and became the youngest ever member of the British Astronomical Association. Served as a navigator for Bomber Command (1940-45). Author of over 60 books including his first Guide to the Moon (1945) and The Wondering Astronomer (2000). Knighted in 2001. He was also well known for creating the Caldwell Catalogue, an astronomical list of star clusters, nebulae and galaxies for observation by amateur astronomers.
