George Zarnecki

Professor of History of Art at the University of London (1963-82), now Emeritus Professor. He studied at Cracow University and University of London. Zarnecki served in the Polish Army during the Second World War before joining the staff of Courtauld Institute in 1945 where he later served as Deputy Director (1961-74). He was awarded Gold Medal of Merit (Poland) in 1978. Publications include English Romanesque Sculpture 1066-1140 (1951) and Art of the Medieval World (1975). Romanesque Lincoln (1988).
