The poet and writer Paul Potts was born in Berkshire and educated in Canada, England and Italy. He settled in London in the early 1930s where he frequented the popular haunts in Soho and formed friendships with notable literary figures including George Orwell and the poet George Barker. Potts published five works during his lifetime, including Dante Called You Beatrice (1960).
