Courtney Pine

British jazz musician, Courtney Pine studied clarinet at school which he has recently returned to, however is more famous for his long history as a leading saxophonist. Pine transformed the jazz world when he released his first album in 1986 Journey to the Urge Within to much critical acclaim. The son of Jamaican immigrants, Pine later released Closer to Home, which touched upon his Caribbean roots and recalled his teenage career as a reggae musician. Pine was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2000, and Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours for services to jazz music.
