Lesley J. Yellowlees
(1953-), ChemistSitter in 2 portraits
Senior Lecturer and Reader in Chemistry at Edinburgh University with a particular interest in Electrochemistry. Yellowlees was iInvolved in the Girls Get Smart Club, aimed to encourage schoolgirls to have a future in science, engineering and technology. 'One of my interests in Chemistry is colour. The intense, permanent colours which fill our lives are all rooted in chemical molecules, usually made by chemists. I find it fascinating that the subtle alteration of bonds can result in dramatic colour differences. My main research areas concentrate on coloured transition metal compounds'.
