Sir Saiyid Ali Imam

(1869-1932), Barrister and Prime Minister of Hyderabad Decan

Born in the village of Neora near Patna, Sir Ali Imam was educated in England. When he returned to Patna in 1917, he took a position as a Judge at Patna High Court. He served as chief minister of the princely state of Hyderabad, British India and was a law member in the Imperial legislative Council. British India gave him the title of 'Sir'. In 1908 Sir Ali Imam was elected as the President of Muslim League at Amritsar Annual Session, in addition he served as President for the Nationalist Muslims Conference at Lucknow (1931). He played a pivotal role in the formation of the Constitution of Bihar as a separate province.

Sir Ali Imam's son Sufi Syed Anwar Ahmed Shah was a renowned person in Gatwala Faisalabad, Pakistan, His grave is in Gatwala 199R.B Faisalabad. He is still a very famous Islamic Saint in this area

When Sir Ali Imam was the chief minister of Nizam State, upon his recommendations the Nizam of Hyderabad invited my great grandfather Hafiz Abdul Karim Khan to come and take the post of Chief Justice of Hyderabad high court.

His great great grandson is Professor Asif Ahmed FRSB, who is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Health at Aston University and the founder and inaugural Executive Dean of Aston Medical School.
