Rex Nan Kivell was born in 1898 not 1899 and the photographs must have been taken by Kar in the Redfern Gallery.
Copies of the photos exist in the National Library's Rex Nan Kivell collection which is a particular research interest of mine. There are also portraits of Nan Kivell by Bryan Kneale and Robert Buhler.
His huge collection of Australasian material formally entered the NLA collection from 1959.
